Following a stream of requests, the organisers of the UK Pool & Spa Awards has extended this year's entry deadline to Thursday September 18th. Entries must be received by midnight on this date.
Showcasing the very best examples of pool and spa design, supply and build, from across the country, more than 200 swimming pools and hot tub projects are typically recognised at the UK Pool & Spa Awards.
Winners across 30 categories are presented with trophies and certificates at the business networking and promotional evening earlier this week, attended by over 200 of the industry’s key personnel including leisure operators, pool builders, designers, hot tub manufacturers and retailers.
“The 2018 awards attracted more entries than ever before while the quality and value of work being undertaken increases year on year,” commented Christina Connor, of Waterland Media, the event organisers.
“Projects are becoming more involved and more expensive with a clear trend for people to improve rather than move by investing in their own leisure facilities for aquatic exercise, relation and social time at home.”
Competition entrants are awarded gold, silver or bronze standard in the contest covering both home and public pool and spa facilities. There was a huge marketing boost at stake, for the winning companies in a competition attracted over 2,000 on line votes and votes from judges, before being scrutinised by an independent jury.
Among the big winners of the night were Glasgow based Barr + Wray with three individual wins including Residential Indoor Pool Of The Year, a title it shared with the top drawer team of Aqua Platinum Projects, based in Hampshire. The APP team also took the title of Luxury Pool Of The Year alongside Cheshire Wellness. The Cheshire Wellness team also scooped Overseas Project Of The Year.
The Residential Outdoor Pool Of The Year category was split by project value. The Residential Outdoor Pool Of The Year, under £120k was shared by two Surrey-based companies, Tanby Pools and Falcon Pools. The over £120k project also saw Falcon Pools snatch victory, in a title shared with Guncast Swimming Pools, based in West Sussex.
The Health and Wellness project of the year was by Buckingham Swimming Pools whose team also won the Outstanding Swimming Pool Design title, shared with the London Swimming Pool Company.
The hot tub (sunken or semi sunken) category and the swim spa awards saw Hydropool Manchester complete a special double victory. North Spas were co-winners of Hot Tub Project Of The Year, with Bos Leisure sharing the Swimspa Project Of The Year title. All Seasons Living and Bespoke Buildings and Spas shared the above ground Hot Tub Of The Year awards.
The coveted Spa Showroom Of The Year title went to Hydropool Channel Islands, based in Jersey. The combined Pool & Spa Showroom title went to Merlin Leisure of Essex while the Spa Retailer Of The Year was shared by Cornish Hot Tubs and Award Leisure.
The 2019 UK Pool & Spa Awards will take place on Thursday December 12th, returning to its popular home venue, The Vox, at the NEC.
