It was one of those events, where you felt sorry for anyone that missed it! The shortlisted finalists in this year's UK Pool & Spa Awards gathered on Thursday December 12th at The Vox, Resorts World, NEC, Birmingham. It was a memorable night of celebration.
Showcasing the very best examples of pool and spa design, supply and build, from across the country, more than 200 swimming pools and hot tub products and projects have been entered in this year's competition by 80 specialist water leisure companies.
Winners across 30 categories were presented with trophies and certificates at the business networking and promotional evening earlier this week, attended by over 200 of the industry’s key personnel including leisure operators, pool builders, designers, hot tub manufacturers and retailers.
Competition entrants are awarded gold, silver or bronze standard in the contest covering both home and commercial pool and spa facilities. There was a huge marketing boost at stake, for the winning companies in a competition that attracts over 2,000 on line votes as well as votes from judges, before being scrutinised by an independent jury.
This year's VIP guest was Sharron Davies who has been one of the UK’s best known and most popular sportswomen since bursting onto the scene as a 13 year old Olympia
Twice voted British Press Sportswoman of the Year, Sharron’s incredible international career spanned three decades, included numerous major titles and medals, 200 British records, some of which stand to this day and an MBE awarded for services to sport. Retiring from competition in 1994, Sharron has become a regular on television and in the press, appearing on shows such as Dancing On Ice and The Island With Bear Grylls.
“The 2019 awards have attracted entries from 80 companies with a terrific spread of projects, products and people all set to be recognised,” commented Christina Connor, of Waterland Media, the event organisers.
“Projects are becoming more involved and more expensive with a clear trend for people to improve rather than move by investing in their own leisure facilities for aquatic exercise, relation and social time at home.”
