Our client had a large outdoor pool that had been neglected and was in poor condition. As part of a major house refurbishment, we brought the pool indoors and transformed it into a modern swimming complex. The pool was fully retiled with new compliant fittings and pipework, a new slatted safety cover and lighting. New filtration, dosing and heating systems, including a Heatstar unit and ducting, completed the upgrade.

A Challenging Project with an Exceptional Result This project was a long time in the making. Our initial site visit took place in 2021, with construction commencing in January 2022. Due to delays associated with the main house project, the swimming pool works were not finally completed until October 2024. From the outset, site access presented a significant challenge. Whenever we required access to the pool to carry out our works, the main contractor would often scaffold over the pool to provide access for other trades working on the building. As a result, much of the rendering and tanking had to be undertaken while working beneath the scaffolding within the pool itself. We were rarely given a clear and uninterrupted period in which to progress the pool works. On numerous occasions, we had to leave site because access was unavailable or conditions prevented us from carrying out the work safely and efficiently. Throughout the project, the design team also made a number of changes to the specification for the plant room and changing facilities. This resulted in numerous meetings and revisions as the project evolved, requiring close coordination between the various designers, architects, contractors and our specialist pool team.
