ENTRY DETAILS
XL Pools
Pool & Spa Team of the year
For over 20 years, XL Pools has grown through the people behind it. We are a relatively small team delivering the workload and service of a much larger company. From installing a new pool approximately every two weeks, to maintaining hundreds of pools and keeping everything organised behind the scenes, every department plays its part. XL Pools simply wouldn't be the company it is today without them.
Why this entry deserves to win
XL Pools has achieved a lot in more than 20 years, but virtually every success we can point to has a team behind it.We are not a huge company. There isn't an endless supply of people to step in when somebody is busy or something goes wrong. Everyone has to pull their weight, and very often people go beyond their individual job description to help get something over the line. Our installers turn drawings and empty gardens into finished swimming pools. Our maintenance engineers keep those pools operating for years afterwards. Our office team holds everything together in the background and keeps customers, engineers, projects and suppliers moving in the right direction.Individually, they are good at what they do. Collectively, they are XL Pools. That's why we wanted to enter the whole company rather than single out one department. The pools featured throughout our other award entries may carry the XL Pools name, but they were designed, organised, built, commissioned and maintained by the people behind it.
Design information
XL Pools isn't made up of one department. We have installation, maintenance and office teams, but the reason the business works is because those teams constantly rely on one another. Our installation team is small, yet during our busiest periods they can deliver approximately one new swimming pool every two weeks. That means excavation, installation, plant rooms, finishing, commissioning and solving the inevitable challenges that come with construction – often while the next project is already beginning. Our maintenance engineers then take over the long-term relationship. They look after our customers' pools throughout the year, from routine servicing and water treatment to breakdowns, openings, closings and those urgent summer calls when something simply has to be fixed. Behind both is our office team. Scheduling engineers, ordering equipment, speaking with customers, managing projects, accounts, suppliers and the countless small details required to keep everything moving isn't always visible, but it is essential. Everyone has their own role, but nobody operates in isolation. When things get busy, people help each other. That teamwork has allowed a relatively small business in Kent to achieve far more than its size would suggest
Technical information
What makes our team special isn't that everything always goes perfectly. Swimming pool construction and maintenance simply don't work like that.... Weather changes programmes. Equipment fails. Deliveries get delayed. Customers need urgent help. An installation can present something nobody expected until excavation begins. What matters is how the team responds. Someone in the office rearranges the diary. An engineer stays longer to get a customer's pool running. The installation team adapts to a difficult site. Someone else finds the part we urgently need. Everybody contributes to getting the job finished. There are individual roles and departments within XL Pools, but ultimately everyone is working towards the same thing, whcih is delivering pools we are proud to put our name to and looking after the customers who trusted us to build them. Over more than 20 years, that mentality has helped XL Pools grow, take on increasingly ambitious projects and build long-standing relationships with customers. Our greatest asset has never been a particular pool, product or piece of equipment, but more so, the people.
