ENTRY DETAILS
The Terrace Pool
Residential Outdoor Pool of the year (Over £150k)
The Terrace Pool is a striking residential pool set within a terraced London garden, its T-shaped form flowing beneath a striking timber-clad extension. A recessed, partially covered section houses the counter-current unit, blurring the line between indoor and outdoor swimming. Finished in rich Cova Turquesa and Aquarelle sponge-effect tiles with warm white lighting throughout, the pool creates a seamless, resort-style retreat across multiple garden levels.
Why this entry deserves to win
The Terrace Pool deserves to win because it shows Aqua Platinum Projects' ability to turn an ambitious, highly specific client vision into reality. Our design team's skill lies in taking a client's individual wants, however unconventional, and translating them into a considered, beautifully executed result. The Terrace Pool feels entirely bespoke to this property and this client, blending indoor and outdoor swimming across a genuinely striking, terraced garden setting — a project that reflects the level of craftsmanship and creative flexibility Aqua Platinum brings to every build.
Design information
The garden's natural terracing informed the entire approach to this project, with the pool designed to step down through the levels of the site rather than sit apart from them. The T-shaped freeboard pool follows the line of the timber-clad extension above, allowing part of the pool to sit beneath cover — a design move that gives the space a distinctive, sheltered character while housing the counter-current unit discreetly within the recess. Rich Cova Turquesa and Aquarelle sponge-effect tiling was chosen to give the water depth and texture, while warm white lighting throughout ties the pool to the relaxed, garden-lounge atmosphere of the terraces above. The result is a pool that feels fully integrated into the architecture and landscape of the property, rather than added onto it.

The pool needed to work architecturally with the timber-clad extension above it, integrate seamlessly with the terraced levels of the garden, and still read as one continuous body of water despite its unconventional shape and partially covered section. Our design team worked closely with the client throughout to ensure this ambitious vision was realised without compromise, resulting in a pool that feels both bespoke and effortless. The cover on this project has been a particular challenge due to the shape of it, APP worked closely with Ocea to develop the design and ensure as high performance for the client. With two covers working in sync.
