The clients wanted the swimming pool to become a focal point at the rear of their garden. Initially undecided between a smaller pool with a counter-current system or a dedicated lap pool, they ultimately chose an 18m x 2.5m design that delivers a striking combination of architecture, fitness and luxury.

This project demonstrates how a relatively narrow space can be transformed into an exceptional swimming environment through careful design and attention to detail. The 18m length gives the pool a genuine lap-swimming function, while the level-deck overflow creates a spectacular architectural appearance. The integration of the slatted cover, bench, lighting and clean paving ensures that every element has been considered. Most importantly, the finished pool doesn’t simply sit within the garden — it becomes part of the architecture of the property, creating a sophisticated and genuinely jaw-dropping focal point.

The design was developed around creating a long, elegant lap pool that would complement the contemporary architecture of the property and become a focal point within the garden. At 18m x 2.5m, the pool provides a dedicated swimming environment while maintaining a clean, minimalist appearance. A level-deck design was chosen, allowing the water to flow seamlessly over the edge and creating the impression that the pool is permanently full. Large-format internal tiles complement the surrounding paving and architecture, while concrete tiled corner steps provide a practical yet understated entrance. A concealed slatted cover was integrated within a bench system, maintaining the clean lines when the pool is not in use. LED lighting was incorporated both within the pool and surrounding paving, creating a dramatic effect after dark. The overall design deliberately keeps the pool simple and architectural, allowing the length of the water, the clean paving lines and the modern house to work together as one cohesive space.
