A Home Hydrotherapy Haven - Tamworth, Staffs
Swim Spa Project of the year
A life-changing home hydrotherapy installation in Tamworth for a family whose child, John, has cerebral palsy. We designed a compact swim spa solution to replace unreliable public pool access, overcoming complex crane access via a third-party car park. The result is a practical, warm-water therapy space with easy day-to-day use and ongoing aftercare support.
Why this entry deserves to win
This project deserves to win because it’s a perfect example of how a well-specified swim spa can genuinely change a family’s day-to-day life — not just look good in a garden.Life-changing impact: The swim spa gives John consistent access to warm-water hydrotherapy at home. Marie has told us it has helped with his muscles, and that he loves being in the warm water.Problem-solving installation: The project required careful planning and persistence to overcome major access restrictions, including securing third-party permission for crane access via a BT-owned car park.Right-sized, expert-led design: We didn’t oversell a bigger solution than the family needed. We listened, assessed their needs, and delivered a compact hybrid swim spa that suits hydrotherapy use while remaining practical for the space.Ongoing aftercare: We supported the family with water care guidance and continued close support after installation, so the swim spa remains reliable and easy to use long-term.
Design information
Marie visited our showroom with her partner and their child, John. John has cerebral palsy, and Marie already knew hydrotherapy helped him — but they were repeatedly let down by public pool access, with hoists out of order or no trained staff available. The effort of getting to the pool only to be turned away was frustrating and disheartening. We worked closely with the family to create a reliable, at-home alternative. In plain English, the brief was: warm-water hydrotherapy that’s always available, without needing a full-size pool. After discussing their goals, we recommended a compact swim spa/hot tub hybrid that would comfortably meet their therapy needs while fitting the space and keeping the installation practical. Following a site survey, we planned the best location in the garden and coordinated the surrounding landscaping and excavation so the finished area would be safe, usable, and easy to maintain. The final design delivers a dedicated hydrotherapy zone at home — giving the family consistency, comfort, and control.
Technical information
Swim spa specified: Vita Spa XStream XF2 (12ft compact swim spa ) Supplier: Aqua Warehouse Group Hydrotherapy & swim performance: 2 x 3HP massage pumps 25 hydrotherapy jets 4 turbo swim jets 5 spa seats (supporting seated hydrotherapy as well as swim/fitness use) Groundworks & setting: Excavation and landscaping works were organised to prepare the area and create a clean, usable finish around the swim spa. Access & delivery solution (key challenge): The property could not be accessed from the road for delivery into the rear garden. We identified an alternative route via a rear access from a BT-owned car park. After persistent coordination and gaining permission from the correct contact, we secured access for a crane lift and completed delivery safely and efficiently. We also sourced and fitted a hoist to allow easier access to the swim spa for John. Handover & aftercare: We provided full water care guidance at handover and have remained in close contact, continuing to look after the swim spa so it stays safe, clear, and ready to use.
