The Azelea Holiday Haven
Above Ground Hot Tub Project of the year (Under £10k)
This Staycation Spa Retreat transformed a holiday let decking area into an inviting private wellness space with an Artesian Azalea Garden Spa hot tub. Carefully selected to complement the available space and budget, the installation provides guests with a luxurious place to relax outdoors while adding a desirable feature to the property. Professionally installed by Marquise Spas, the project demonstrates how affordable luxury can make a big impact.
Why this entry deserves to win
The Staycation Spa Retreat demonstrates that an outstanding guest experience doesn’t require an enormous budget, a large space or major electrical works. What makes this project stand out is the way we matched the right hot tub to the specific requirements of a holiday let property. Many cabins, lodges and holiday lets have limitations when it comes to electrical capacity, so installing a conventional higher powered hot tub can mean additional electrical work, disruption and expense. The Artesian Garden Spas Azalea’s 13 amp Plug & Play capability provided an excellent solution, while still offering 21 hydrotherapy jets, two dedicated seats and a compact 193 x 117cm footprint. Rather than simply supplying a hot tub, we considered how the spa would work as part of the overall guest experience. Its compact dimensions allowed it to sit beautifully on the raised decking without dominating the outdoor area, creating an intimate private retreat that adds another dimension to the holiday accommodation. The installation itself demonstrates the importance of planning and communication between supplier and customer. There were no major access difficulties because we planned the project in the correct sequence. The spa was delivered
Design information
The inspiration behind the design was to create a luxury, low maintenance outdoor experience that would enhance the holiday let and give guests another reason to book and return. Working closely with the customer, we considered the existing decking, available space, guest usability and ongoing maintenance. The Artesian Azalea was selected for its compact footprint, quality and hydrotherapy, allowing us to integrate the hot tub naturally into the decking area while creating an inviting, practical retreat that feels like part of the property rather than an addition.
Technical information
The Artesian Garden Spas Azalea was specifically selected for this holiday let project because it combines genuine hydrotherapy with a compact footprint and, importantly, 13-amp Plug & Play capability. This was a key consideration, as many holiday cabins and lodges have limited electrical capacity and cannot easily accommodate the higher electrical demand associated with larger hot tubs. The Azalea therefore allowed us to create a premium guest amenity without the need for a major electrical infrastructure upgrade. UK specifications confirm its 13-amp capability. The Azalea measures approximately 1930mm x 1170mm x 810mm, making it particularly well suited to the existing raised decking area. It provides two dedicated hydrotherapy seats and 21 stainless-steel jets, powered by a 2.0 HP, two-speed pump on the UK/export specification. Its compact design delivers a surprisingly comprehensive massage experience while retaining a small footprint an important consideration where usable outdoor space contributes directly to the appeal of the holiday accommodation. The spa has a 35 sq. ft. filtration system, digital LCD control system, LED lighting, maintenance-free cabinetry and an insulated construction designed to help retain heat, this hot tub was fully foamed and ozone fitted. One of the strengths of this project was that careful planning made the physical installation extremely straightforward. The hot tub was positioned on the prepared decking before the surrounding deck railing was installed, giving the installation team completely unrestricted access. Rather than having to remove balustrades, organise specialist lifting equipment or compromise the finished decking, the sequence of works was coordinated so that the Azalea could be moved directly into its final position first, with the deck railing subsequently constructed around the completed installation. Although there were therefore no significant access problems to overcome on installation day, this was the result of good project planning rather than luck. Coordinating the installation sequence with the customer meant unnecessary cost, disruption and risk of damage to the finished deck were avoided. The result is a neat, purpose designed installation in which the spa feels integrated into the holiday let decking rather than simply placed on top of it. Combined with the Azalea’s compact dimensions and 13-amp electrical requirement, it demonstrates how a relatively modest project can deliver a substantial enhancement to the guest experience without requiring extensive structural or electrical alterations.
